In the history of the Vietnam War, the battle of Long Tan was one of the fiercest battles between the Australian Imperial Army and the National Front for the Liberation of Vietnam. The battle took place during the year 1966 in Long Tan town, Phuoc Tuy province, which is now known as Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.

Overview of Long Tan Cross

Ba Ria-Vung Tau is located in the Southeast region, where the mild climate is uncovered between the mountains and the sea with eye-catching natural beauty. Therefore, this place has become one of Vietnam's top tourist destinations. Long Tan Cross is far away about 25 km from Vung Tau City and more than 80 km from Ho Chi Minh City.

In the battle of Long Tan, the Australian army lost 18 people, and was the most famous battle of the Australian army in Vietnam. The Liberation Army's 275th Regiment suffered heavy losses and was unable to operate for many months. After the battle, Australian soldiers made a memorial with the image of a cross at the place where their comrades died, also known as the Long Tan Cross Memorial.
