Hue, known as the former capital of the Nguyen dynasty, is the only city in Vietnam that still has the integral manifestation of a complex of the monarchic capital comprising of walls, palaces, and royal tombs. Therefore, in terms of history and heritage, Hue is one of Vietnam’s most valued national treasures and has been recognized as a World’s Cultural Heritage since 1993.
The neighborhood of Hue is Da Nang - city of Da Nang Beach, Marble Mountains and Cham Museum - where one can see magnificent examples of art of the Indianised Cham civilization.
About 30km South of Da Nang, Hoi An Ancient Town used to be a busy international trading port on the Eastwest area in the 16th and 17th centuries, a place of converge and exchanging of many cultures such as Champa, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Japanese and Chinese, especially impacted most by Vietnamese and Chinese civilizations. Hoi An was listed as a World’s Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in December 1999.
Day 1: HUE
Arrive in Hue. One-hour boat cruise on the Perfume River brings you to the Thien Mu Pagoda, once privileged for the royal family members. Bus picks up to the Imperial Citadel for a 2-hour walk visit.
Visit the tombs of Kings Tu Duc & Khai Dinh. The tombs are considered not only as their final resting places but the second palace for the deceased Kings of the Nguyen Dynasty. End the day by visiting Dong Ba Market where you can see a large production of conical palm hats made on the spot by the women sellers. O/N in Hue.
Day 2: HUE - DANANG - HOI AN
Leave Hue for Hoi An via Danang through Hai Van (Cloudy) pass. Arrive Danang and visit the Museum of Cham sculpture, displaying an intensive and diverse collection of sculptures dated between the 7th and 15th centuries, from the golden age to the decline of the civilization named Champa.
After lunch, continue to Hoi An. On the way, stop to climb up the Marble Mountains, known as the Five Oriental Elements mountain by locals and a place of pilgrimage for residents living in the nearby provinces. Continue to Hoi An. O/N in Hoi An.
Day 3: HOI AN
Pick up at your hotel for a half day walking guided tour of Hoi An: the Japanese covered bridge, Tan Ky Old house, Assembly hall of the Fujian Chinese Congregation. Enjoy one-hour boat trip on Thu Bon River departing from the market to see the villagers catching fish with their nets. Return to the wharf. O/N in Hoi An.
Day 4: HOI AN - DANANG
Return to Danang for flight to HCM City. End of services.
