Mai Chau is located in Hoa Binh province, approximately 135 km from Hanoi and 60 km from Hoa Binh. From the top of Cun Mountain, one can admire the superb panorama of Mai Chau surrounded by a green valley and stilt houses. Many minorities, including the Thai ethnic group, live in Mai Chau. Thai people live in houses-on-stilts, which are quite large with palm leaf roofs and polished bamboo-slat floors.
Day 1: HANOI - HOA BINH - MAI CHAU
AM: Pick up at your hotel & leave for Hoa Binh, passing through parts of the scenic North-West mountainous region of Vietnam. Upon arrival, board a boat and cruise on the Da River to reach villages of the Muong and the Dzao ethnic minorities on the river bank. Back to the embankment & return to Hoa Binh town for lunch before continuing to Mai Chau.
PM: Continue to Mai Chau, short break at Cun pass for photographing. Arrival at Lac village & check in a local house. Walk through villages to discover the local people’s lives as well as to learn the making of the colorful “tho cam”, the material used by Thai minority to make their clothes. Dinner & homestay overnight.
Day 2: MAI CHAU - HANOI
AM: After breakfast, say goodbye to the host, walk on village roads & bus back to Hoa Binh. Lunch at Hoa Binh.
PM: Continue to Hanoi - Stop at Van Phuc village for visiting the famous silk village of Van Phuc, which has been well-known for its traditional sericulture, weaving, and silk products. Back to Hanoi. End of services.
